3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF DRAMATHERAPY & PLAYTHERAPY

11-12 & 13 October 2013

Nafplion & Epidaurus

                                                                                

As we had already announced at the 1st Conference (2007) and at the 2nd Conference (2010) at Harokopio University, an International Meeting on Dramatherapy and Playtherapy will be organized every three years.

This year desire along with necessity has led to new meetings, syntheses and synergies. This is the first time the Conference is being jointly organized by three bodies:

-           The Theatre Studies Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Peloponnese

-           The Association of Dramatherapists and Play therapists of Greece (EDPE), and

-           The Aeon Dramatherapy Canter

In this effort we have the support of the Municipality of Nafplion, of the Harvard University Center of Hellenic Studies in Nafplion, and of other local public and private organizations.

The theme the Conference aims to explore is:

“Dramatherapy and Playtherapy in the WORLD;

SPACE for Meetings, Syntheses, Synergies”

The concepts of ‘meeting’, ‘synthesis’ and ‘synergy’ express a dynamic that combines the scientific with the philosophical approach to Dramatherapy and Playtherapy, as these are methods that engage various modes and perspectives to approach healing; they are methods of ‘twists and turns’, of ‘many minds’ – polytropoi  in the Homeric sense.

Moreover, the venue is different as we will be hosted in Nafplion and Epidaurus. On the first two days the Conference will be held at Nafplion and on the third we will be visiting the Asclepieion and the Theatre of Epidaurus. This is where Drama and Therapy first came together.

“Dramatherapy and Playtherapy in the World”; a cross-sectional and longitudinal journey through events, trends, prospects, openings and syntheses.

After all, the space (topos) also dictates the manner (tropos), and it is through its various modes and eventually tempers and entropy that it is projected onto us and incorporated in our daily roles.

The 3rd INTERNATIONAL Conference of Dramatherapy and Playtherapy will be held in Nafplion and Epidaurus on 11-12 & 13 October 2013.
